TODAY'S HIGHLIGHTS
*Styx on the Iraq prisoner controversy (see below)*
MUSIC NEWS
STYX, TROOPS-SUPPORTERS, ON CURRENT IRAQ PRISONER ABUSE. Styx are
proud to be a band that supports those who give their time to help
this country. They're vocally pro-troops and they played the post-9/11
benefits for the New York emergency-response workers. So we were wondering
what their take on the current controversy around the Iraqi prisoner
abuse photos that have been everywhere lately. Here's what James "JY" Young
of Styx had to say on the matter. (Actuality #1) "No one knows
how they would react in a situation over there. And you know, I think
when people are under stress, they do stupid things. And I can imagine
no greater stress than knowing you can't shoot, someone else almost
gets to take the first shot at you over there. Because you're a policeman.
In a foreign place, where you don't speak the language. I mean, I don't
like seeing those pictures, I think it's very sad." Continuing
their support of those who need it, Styx recently re-recorded their
hit song "Blue Collar Man" to benefit Willie Dixon's Blues
Heaven Foundation, which sees to it that artists maintain the rights
and control over their own music and royalties.
