11/9/00 - Looking at you from Lowell...

Hello Friends,

We are here in Lowell and in a couple of hours rehearsals begin for the first show here tonight with REO and Survivor. November looks like another action packed month for STYX and we can't wait to get going.

Here is a review of our show in Munich, Germany the next to last night of our tour there. Our thanks to Kerstin for translating. To see the original with lots of photos from that night, follow this url:

Rockstar of the week STYX live in Munich!

MUSIC@liens extensively had the band around Tommy Shaw in front of their lenses during their gig at the Munich "Circus Krone"

Concert report: STYX 30.10.2000 "Circus Krone" / Munich

It's been 13 long years ago that STYX were to be seen live in Germany. Even happier was the Rocker's heart, seeing these Heroes on the 30th of October live at the Munich Zirkus Krone, in spite of all the legal fights with the ex-band member Dennis DeYoung.

Support act Venice showed what we were to expect from this evening - brilliant voices. About 2000 people this Monday witnessed an ultimative Rock-event, lead by Tommy Shaw (Guitar), Lawrence Gowan (Keyboards), Glen Burtnik (Bass), James Young (Guitar) and Todd Suchermann (Drums). With energy and power the men played just as they had just left High-school and even a layman could see, that absolute masters were at work. Especially Larry Gowan and Glen Burtnik used the entire stage for their jokes, the bass-man even went for a walk through the audience - to the horror of his completely overtaxed Bodyguard. Neither the 360 turnable Keyboard nor the stage rigging was safe from the two maniacs. You could see that the band had a whale of a time at the concert and Tommy Shaw and James Young thanked the audience with some brilliant guitar playing. No hit was missing in the two and a half hours, especially the unplugged session made shivers run down spines and produced a lot of feeling, where the vocal performance of Tommy Shaw and Lawrence Gowan have to be emphasized. Very positively to be seen was also that there were five personalities on stage, that still harmonized without competing with eachother. It was a joy to watch! Fans fo the first hour maybe were a bit unsatisfied with the choice of the songs but there definitely was something for everyone.

Setlist: Everything Is Cool, Grand Illusion, Blue Collar Man, Lorelei, Lady, Brave New World, Snowblind, Edge Of The Century, Sing For The Day, Fooling Yourself, Heavy Water, Unplugged-Session (Lights, Sometimes Love, Boat On The River, Best Of Times, The King Chanticleer Rag), Love Is The Ritual, Crystal Ball, Miss America, Too Much Time, Come Sail Away, Zugabe (Tush, Renegade)
