Styx, Little Richard Schedule Shows
May 17, 1996|By MELISSA RUGGIERI Staff Writer Remember Paradise Theatre? If so, no doubt you've been anticipating the day that Tommy Shaw and Dennis DeYoung would share a stage again. The reunited Styx will play the Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach on July 9. Reserved seats, on sale at 10 a.m. today, are $19.75 and $27.75, and lawn tickets are $12.95. Known for their theatrical, synthesized rock, Styx hit its peak in the late '70s and early '80s with nuggets such as Come Sail Away, Babe and Too Much Time On My Hands. The band split in the mid-80s; Shaw hooked up with Ted Nugent and ex-Night Ranger bassist Jack Blades in the late '80s to form Damn Yankees, and again partnered with Blades on last year's Hallucination album. DeYoung, meanwhile, tinkered with Broadway show tunes, while guitarist James Young tried his hand at recording solo in 1994. This is the first tour the original lineup has embarked on in 13 years. |
