Those of us who grew up with Johnny, often being the last voice we heard at the end of the day, understand what a great entertainer he was. When he retired in 1992 we quickly realized it was the end of an era, an end to the unique relationship we all felt we had with him.

"Mr. Carson passed away peacefully early Sunday morning," his nephew, Jeff Sotzing, told The Associated Press. "He was surrounded by his family, whose loss will be immeasurable. There will be no memorial service."

Thank you for the laughs, the distraction from our daily lives and for being there for us for those 30 years on The Tonight Show.
